Fibre Optic Broadband

Posted by: Jason Fernyhough at 15:49 on 18 Jan 2011

Message:
It may interest villagers both in Cannock Wood and Gentleshaw that Fibre Optic Broadband is now available, providing speeds up to 40Mbps. The first house to go online has seen a speed increase from 0.5Mbps ADSL to over 16Mbps on the new service. Capacity is limited to 200 homes across both villages. Contact Jason Fernyhough Jasonf@box.co.uk with your BT phone number to check availability and predicted speeds, along with pricing.

Re Harriman land sale The Beaudesert Estate is now a Charity and still very much in existance but no longer a residence. There are many interesting local records held in the Records Office in Stafford and it may be well worth a visit The plans that I have seen show many of the houses and farms and alter depending on that date of the record.I hope that this helps.

Hello I am so excited to have found your site. Do you have any local history societies you could direct me to please. My maiden name is Harriman and my great grandparents lived in Cannock. I have found an article that mentions ownership of a house and land in Budds Piece cannock wood was sold to The Beaudersert estate in 1882. I would like for interest to know if anyone knows of the actual site of this ( just for my interest) thank you for reading my message. Caroline

I had the pleasure of visiting your Country Fayre. How nice to see that old English Customs are still kept alive. I followed my visit with a walk to Nun,s Well. Do any of your Local Historians have any information for me. I have some information via the Net..but articles are quite vague. With Thanks. Chris Browne
